Cardio Session

A Cardio Session is a block of time that you have dedicated to get your body moving and year heart rate up.

There are many different situations that some would qualify as a cardio session and others wouldn't, and there are other situations that are more clear cut. For instance, I live in Amsterdam, and spend more than 30 minutes on my bicycle everyday. Even though sometimes, I ride very quickly, and my heart hate is up, I do NOT consider this cardio activity; it is more a means of transportation.

Climbing your stairs, or walking your dog at a brisk pace, or even sex are all activities that serve another purpose and quite likely, you would be doing them anyway, thus they should not count as Cardio Sessions. Jogging in the park, cycling around the lake, Jumping rope, mountain-biking, running on a treadmill -- these are legitimate Cardio Sessions.

If you play a sport, and you are wondering about whether you could count a game or a practice towards your Cardio Session tally, the way I look at it is: If I feel like I really got my heart rate up for 20 steady minutes during practice or game: I count it as a Cardio Session -- if it was more social and I didn't really push myself, I'm not going to count it.

You can only complete 1 cardio session per day.

If this is not clear, please feel free to mail the fitness challenge and it can be discussed further!
